Mrs. Courson

Hello!  My name is Julie Courson and I have the pleasure of teaching special reading this year.  Here is a little bit about me and my teaching style.

     My family and I live in Mt. Zion.  My husband Tom works at Busey Bank and we have two children. We also have a dog named Auggie-the-doggie.  We keep very busy as both children play multiple sports and Tom coaches.  When I am not at school or watching a sporting event, I enjoy reading, exercising, and walking Auggie.  

     I am lucky enough to have a job that I love. Teaching is something I am passionate about.  I was an English major in college and later got my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.  Several years later, I worked for and received my National Board Certification in the area of Literacy.  My goal is to help children enjoy learning.  

    During class we will work on improving reading skills through the use of books, activities, computer programs, reading journals, book talks, and reading games.  Learning can be fun.
