A | Students can be on the playground at 8:00 AM First bell rings at 8:25 Tardy bell rings at 8:30 School dismisses at 3:05 Office Hours: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM |

3. | Q | What should I do if my child is going to be absent? |
A | Please call the school before 9:00 AM to report an absence or illness, or utilize the answering machine for more convenience. | |
4. | Q | What will happen if my child gets sick or hurt at school? |
A | There is a nurse that visits the building throughout the day. If your child gets sick or hurt, you will be notified by telephone so you can come pick your child up if necessary. It is extremely important that the office have at least two telephone numbers to call in case of a medical emergency. If your child has a fever, he or she should be kept home until there has been no fever for 24 hours. Other instances may require a doctor's release. | |
5. | Q | Is there a dress code at Mt. Zion Grade School? |
A | Students do not wear uniforms. Items not allowed include: shirts with inappropriate words or pictures, pants hanging so low that underwear shows or bottoms drag, or tops showing the midriff. See the school handbook for more specific information. | |
6. | Q | When can I come and visit my child's classroom? |
A | Parents are always welcome at Mt. Zion Grade School. But, we ask that you please call ahead of time if possible to check daily classroom schedules. Parent Visitation Day is scheduled in November during National Education Week. Parents are welcome to eat lunch with their child at any time. Please call the office to order a lunch. | |
7. | Q | What do I need to do upon entering the school as a visitor? |
A | Please report to the office to sign in and receive a visitor badge. This helps us enforce safety and security in our building. | |
8. | Q | What if I plan on picking up my child after school? |
A | Please send a note if this is a change from your child's normal transportation method. Otherwise, students being picked up will exit through the front gym doors at 3:00 PM. Parents can utilize the west lot for pick up. | |
9. | Q | How can I become involved at school? |
A | Parents are encouraged to become involved with the Community Club. The Community Club helps by selling Spirit Wear, holding a book fair, helping out with classroom parties and other school activities throughout the year. Please call the school for more information |
